Poet Street are an established ensemble of seven on the Melbourne music scene and are best known for their catchy tunes and funky grooves!

Taking inspiration from artists such as PostModern Jukebox, pop icons such as Lizzo and Miley Cyrus, jazz greats Ella Fitgerald, Duke Ellington, Poet Street have developed their unique sound and writing skills. Featuring vocals, trumpet, tenor sax and baritone sax over an ‘in-the-pocket’ rhythm section (piano, electric bass, drums, their repertoire consists of mostly originals and some ‘jazzed up’ covers.

In 2022, Poet Street released their debut album ‘Poet St.’ and a year later released their debut single ‘Snake Soup’. Since forming online, via zoom, during the lockdowns in 2020, they have participated in the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival, the Dingo Australian Jazz Journal Launch, performed at The Counts supporting Xani Kolac on International Womens’ Day, featured twice on live radio - Cacao Jazz, 94.1FM 3WBC, and performed at many venues across Melbourne. Supported by Steve Sedergreen, they have made the Central Club Hotel in Richmond their ‘home’ venue, and aim to challenge the gender imbalance in the music industry, striving for inclusion and equity in their music, sets, and shows.
