Meg Corson & Cam Scott

Saturday June 8th, 5.20 pm - The Coolroom at the Northern Arts Hotel

Meg Corson - Voice/Percussion

Cameron Scott - Piano/Organ

These guys have both had long careers as professional musicians and individually had incredible performance experiences and played with some amazing people, all over the world and around the country.

They met in 1991 at the School of Music Jazz Campus, Australian National University, ACT, while both studying and professionally performing in and around Canberra - this sparked an indelible musical chemistry that never left.

After graduating they went off and established their own successful careers in the music industry, but in 2013 Meg and Cam found themselves in around about the same geographical location(!)... reunited and have been performing together ever since.

Whether as a duo, or up to a 7-piece band, these two ‘partners-in-crime’ still have their roots set firmly in jazz…but quite often their collaborations can span many genres of music…something they love to explore! This last year has been a rise of extremes between 80’s and Disco Funk for events such as the Fringe Festival and the Castlemaine and Tradable Balls, to intimate nights of deep soulful jazz explorations at the Northern Arts Hotel and other surrounding places.

Meg has been a local now for over 12 years... and we’re happy to say, Cam after many years of 3-hour commutes, just recently moved to the area!

Anytime you get the opportunity to experience this collaborative partnership in action is highly recommended.

This CJF24 Northern Arts Hotel ‘Coolroom’ performance is expected to be something out of the box.

They are not going to rehearse anything…just step totally into the thing that fuels their creative connection - their passion and love for improvisation.

So come along and be a part of that... they may even let you call out musical direction!

AND. For the first time in this combo, Cam will be bringing along his portable ORGAN... this is something to be witnessed!

Meg Corson - Bio.

A graduate of the ANU School of Music/Jazz Studies. Meg’s professional experience, though grounded in jazz, is diverse and spans most genres of music. She has played leading roles in musicals, lead jazz bands, fronted big bands and orchestras and now produces her own concerts, as well as many community performances and events.

Meg has a rich performance history as a soloist but has also recorded and performed with some impressive people over the years, most fondly with James Morrison and the late great Don Burrows! Which was during her chapter as one of the founding members of A’cappella group ‘The Idea of North’.

Whether singing to a large crowd or an intimate audience, the personal and emotional connection to people is what you get. And fun!
